Since 01 June 2019, new rules have come into force in Canada for recreational (and professional) drones.
The new rules apply to unmanned aircraft weighing more than 250 grams (but not more than 25 kg). The rules have two categories: basic and advanced. The categories have been established on the basis of distance from passers-by and the rules governing airspace.
All pilots with a drone weighing more than 250g but not more than 25kg must obtain a certificate and must also register their drones.
